Only the driver whose trip you take a seat on gets your number, and you get theirs. If nothing is going your way yet, save your journey: drivers who add that route will see someone is waiting, and you can come back and take a seat when a trip appears.
You are not being hired. This is what each passenger would put towards the fuel, and it drops for everybody each time somebody else joins.

How the price is worked out
Innova takes what the journey costs to run — a fixed amount, plus a rate per kilometre for that size of car — and divides it by the people in the car, the driver included. That is why a seat gets cheaper every time somebody joins, and why there is a floor and a ceiling on what any one seat can cost.
